How to Connect a Custom Domain

If you would like to remove any reference to PlutoLMS from your domain (URL), you can add a custom domain to your LMS site. This will become the new URL through which your LMS can be accessed.

Request Domain Update

Step 1: Click on "Site Admin", followed by "Site branding" and then "Setup custom domain."

Step 2: Follow the prompts to make the request.

Step 3: Once you have submitted your request, you will receive an email with instructions needed to update your A DNS records.

*Note: If you do not receive this email, please contact support@plutolms.com

Register New Domain or Sub-domain

If you have an existing website, let's say "yourcompany.com", you will be able to register a new domain or sub domain of your choice.

For example: lms.yourcompany.com, training.yourcompany.com or courses.yourcompany.com

*Warning: If you have an active site "yourcompany.com", please do not change these parent DNS settings as it will break your active site. Only change the new domain or subdomain DNS records to point to our servers.

*Note: If you are unable to register a new domain, please ask your existing hosting or domain administrators to assist you. They usually have step-by-step guides on how to use their services.

The above are sample guides. Every domain hosting service is different Please contact them for assistance if you cannot add your own domain and DNS records.

If using a new primary domain (lmsdomain.com):

Helpful Tips

Please do not try and point your domain to Pluto LMS in any other way, other than through the instructions given to you via the setup form. For example, do not try to use CNAME or mask your domain to the default LMS domain shared when you got access to your LMS.

In order to point your custom domain to your Pluto LMS server, you need to update the destination IP address of your "@" and "www" DNS A records. There are many domain service providers out there such as GoDaddy, NameCheap and more.

*Note: If you are uncertain, we highly recommend getting in touch with your domain hosting provider in order to get the best assistance based on your requirements and setup. Pluto LMS will provide you with the IP address of your LMS server that you will need to point the domain to. You can share our instructions with your service provider.

If you're wondering whether or not you set up your new domain correctly and pointed them to the correct IP address, you can check this on DNS Checker.

Click here to access DNS checker. After clicking on the link, you can add the domain you are configuring to the search box as shown below:

Then click on "Search". If your domain is pointed correctly, you will see green ticks:

Not Seeing Green Ticks? 

Check the following with your 3rd party domain hosts:

  1. If you added the correct domain to DNS Checker.
  2. If you added the "@" and "www" A DNS records correctly and pointed them to the IP address shared with you.

Please contact support@plutolms.com so that we can perform the last step in the process of linking your domain to your LMS on our servers as well as adding an SSL certificate.

We will then contact you once the above is complete. No further action will then be required on your side.

Is VAT included in your pricing?
