PlutoLMS Roles Explained

PlutoLMS offers a comprehensive role-based access control system to efficiently manage user permissions and access levels within the platform. It provides two main categories of roles: Site Wide Roles and Course Roles.

Site Wide Roles

These roles are assigned at a site wide level by Site Administrators.

1. Site Admin: 

This role is the highest role on your Pluto LMS site. Site Admin can manage and modify site wide settings and administration, create courses, edit all content and assign roles. 

2. Course Creator: 

This role can create new courses and manage the settings and content of those courses. Course creators cannot edit courses not created by themselves. 

3. Learner: 

This role can merely view content and not alter it. By default all users are learners.

Course Roles

These roles are assigned locally in each course. Each course will need to be treated separately.

1. Course Instructor:

This role has the ability to manage and modify course settings and content and manage course members.

2. Manager:

This role can view course reports. Managers cannot modify course content or settings.

3. Learner:

This role can merely view and participate in course activities. By default all users are learners when enrolled into a course.

*Note: A single user can have multiple roles assigned to them. For example, a learner in one course can be a manager in another course. This allows for flexibility in the way you manage and administer your LMS.

Use Case Example:

This role-based approach empowers training managers to efficiently administer the LMS, delegate responsibilities, and provide tailored learning opportunities to their staff members.

For example: Training managers using Pluto LMS can assume the 'Site Admin' role, granting them complete control over site-wide settings, content creation, and user management. Within each course, the training manager can assign 'Course Instructors', to facilitate the learning experience.

What is a user?

A "user" refers to any individual who interacts with the LMS platform. This includes learners, administrators, and managers.

Is your pricing monthly or yearly?

We offer both monthly and yearly pricing plans. You can choose the plan that best fits your needs. Opting for an annual plan will provide you with a 25% discount compared to the monthly rate.

Can I upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time?

Yes, you can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan at any time. However, please note that there is a 30-day notice period required for cancellations.

If you cancel or downgrade your account, your plan will remain active until the end of your billing period.

Do you offer nonprofit discounts?

Yes, we offer discounts for nonprofit organisations.

Is VAT included in your pricing?

VAT is not included in the prices listed on our website. It will be added where applicable during the sign-up process.

Are there any sign-up fees?

No, there are no sign-up fees with PlutoLMS. Signing up is completely free of charge. You will only need to pay for your LMS subscription.
